Health & Safety
Safety is inherent within our core values and business. Safety is our focus and is extremely important at every stage of development of our projects, from front-end engineering and design through construction and operations. We believe that safety starts with our culture, and have adopted a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Policy that sets forth our commitment to operating safely and responsibly, protecting the environment, and having a positive impact in the communities in which we live and work.
The health and safety of our employees and the community go hand-in-hand. NextDecade will develop and operate its projects in a manner that is consistent with local, state, and federal regulations.
NextDecade Is:
Collaborating with local, state, and federal authorities and industry partners during planning to ensure public safety
Incorporating containment systems, leak detection, and other safety measures into plant and project design
Implementing comprehensive and best practice safety policies, systems, and procedures
Taking a risk-based approach to personnel safety which means planning out tasks every day, tracking progress, sharing best practices or lessons learned, and using behavior-based safety to promote hazard recognition and healthy dialogue
Stop work authority (SWA)
Stop Work Authority is an integral part of our safety culture. It establishes the authority and responsibility of any individual employee or contractor to stop an individual work task or a group operation when any unsafe or risky condition is deemed to be present.
Contractor health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) management program
At NextDecade, we believe in doing business with contractors who demonstrate high standards of ethical business conduct and share our commitment to safety, reliability, quality, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. We require our contractors to understand and adhere to our HSSE management programs and performance standards.
