During the Thanksgiving season, Communities in Schools (CIS) Cameron County partners with local area schools to assist families in need and donate an assortment of food and other items. As part of Rio Grande LNG’s (RGLNG) promise to be a good neighbor, we participated in this year’s Thanksgiving LOVE Baskets donation which benefitted five local families whose children attend Los Fresnos United (LFU) High School in Los Fresnos, Texas.

The RGLNG community relations team arrived early in the morning at LFU and met with members of the benefiting families who spoke of their varied backgrounds and the support their children had received.

The baskets donated to each family included a turkey with preparation items along with gift cards for restaurants, children’s toys, and a throw blanket.

CIS is a national organization that ensures every student, regardless of race, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their potential in school and beyond. CIS works directly with 2,900 schools across the country to connect students to caring adults and community resources that help them see, confront, and overcome the barriers that stand between them and a brighter future.
